(#16) Performance Venues in Toronto: The Ontario Place Forum

Cockburn at Ontario Place

Located at 955 Lakeshore Blvd. West. Bruce has performed at Ontario Place often, including a performance in 1979 that was taped for a television special and the Live album from 1990, which was recorded here August 14th and 15th, 1989.

In 1995, the Ontario Place Forum was replaced with the "Molson Amphitheatre at Ontario Place". Despite its somewhat clumsy, product-oriented name, the new amphitheatre is said to be an improvement in design over the old. It now holds 16,000 people in a combination of reserved seats and general admission.

The entertainment complex that is Ontario Place was built in 1971 on the Lake Ontario waterfront. The whole complex is built on 3 man-made islands connected by bridges to the mainland and there are many rides and attractions, including the world's first permanent IMAX theatre.

This page is part of The Cockburn Project, a unique website that exists to document the work of Canadian singer-songwriter and musician Bruce Cockburn. The Project archives self-commentary by Cockburn on his songs and music, and supplements this core part of the website with news, tour dates, and other current information.
