New tour dates

16 August 1999 -- Bruce Cockburn's management company, True North, today announced a whole series of new tour dates for Bruce Cockburn which are to follow the worldwide release date of his new album, "Breakfast in New Orleans, Dinner in Timbuktu", on 14 September 1999.

The 18 new dates bring the number of Cockburn's upcoming gigs in 1999 to 27, and sketch out an itinerary that takes across the northern part of the US during 18-28 September, up to Canada from 30 September to 7 October, then across the pond for stop-overs in Belgium on 15 October and Amsterdam on 20 October.

Following this, there will be a brief UK tour starting in Glasgow on 23 October and hitting a variety of venues across England until 29 October, a tour across Germany from 31 October to 10 November, and finally back across the pond to California for three dates at the beginning of December.

On 9 September 1999, more European gigs were announced, including dates in France, Sweden, and Italy, as well as two date in Toronto, Canada.

Cockburn talks about new album

Ryko recently added an excellent section to its website with Cockburn's comments on each of the tracks on the upcoming album. Cockburn says of his music, "My songwriting is an attempt to take what I've experienced and what I think is true and distill it into something that is entertaining, then throw it out to people and say 'Maybe you can use this too.' In some ways it makes me the focal point for like-minded people... They hear the songs, and all of a sudden there's a kind of community."

A new Ryko introduction to the album can be found here on Ryko's site.
