12 October 2007 - Down at the Sea Hotel, a storybook and music CD parents and children alike
will love, set for release October 16, 2007. Features songs by legends including Neil Young, Tom Waits, Steve
Earle, Billy Joel and Bruce Cockburn as performed by roots music stars The Wailin' Jennys, Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka and Lynn Miles, among others.
Down at the Sea Hotel is a song written by two-time Grammy nominee
Greg Brown, whose career spans two decades and more than a dozen critically
acclaimed albums. It is also a story, exquisitely illustrated by acclaimed
Canadian illustrator Mireille Levert. Levert, a two-time winner of the
Governor General's Literature Award and recent finalist for the Marilyn
Baillie Picture Book Award, also created the CD cover art.
Down at the Sea Hotel is also a welcome treat for parents weary of
standard children's music. In addition to its title track the album also
features 13 lullabies written by some of the 20th century's most
celebrated songwriters (Neil Young, Bruce Cockburn, Carole King, Don Henley, Steve Earle, Nanci
Griffith,Tom Waits, etc.), whose songs are performed by artists signed by the
prestigious Minnesota roots music label Red House Records, including Guy
Davis, Lucy Kaplansky, John Gorka, Eliza Gilkyson, The Wailin' Jennys and
Lynn Miles.
The song Bruce contributed is Little Seahorse, track #9, sung by Lynn Miles.
