HONOUR BRUCE BY HELPING THE LANDMINE CAMPAIGN

Bruce in Cambodia In honour of Bruce's induction into the Canadian Rock Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards on March 4th, 2001, his fans in cyberspace got together to give him a present of donations to the Campaign for a Landmine Free World.

Friends of The Cockburn Project and members of the Humans list gave dontations that totalled $2,590 (CAN). The Project's Campaigns Coordinator, Audrey Pearson, faxed Bruce before the awards ceremony:

Hi Bruce,

In honour of your induction into the Canadian Rock Hall of Fame, the Internet gang of Humans and The Cockburn Project decided to give you a present of donations to the Campaign for a Landmine Free World.

From Alaska, Alberta, Arizona, British Columbia, California, Colorado, England, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Japan, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan (for Amy and Lisa), Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Sweden, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington DC, and Wisconsin, we gave $2,590 (CAD) to the Campaign.

Congratulations on your induction. Have fun at the ceremony. I'm sure you'll be able to graciously duck any Mercer zingers that come your way.

Landmines aren't going away

With 60 million to 80 million landmines still in the ground in 70 countries, and between 300,000 and 350,000 people who have survived being blown up by landmines and need support of all kinds, this is definitely a long-term effort.
