Dave Hedenstrom - gives us this account:
Bruce put on an incredible performance in Minneapolis. Of course, an incredible performance from Bruce is perfectly normal! It was wonderful to hear some new songs from his upcoming album, as well as oldies such as "In the Falling Dark," "Laughter," "Let us Go Laughing" and "After the Rain." And also "Grim Travellers." Bruce told of a story in the news at the time he wrote the song, about 12 mercenaries who tried to take over the African nation of Comoros. Apparently the lead mercenary, Frenchman Bob Denard, was asked why he attempted the coup, and he said (you guessed it),"every man wants to retire to a place he can call his own." And I always thought Bruce was just being clever with those lines! Should have known better.
