    COMMENTS/FURTHER INFORMATION

Setlist submitted to the Project by Susan Kastan and Stephen McNamara

    Susan Kastan reported that:

This free concert, outdoors on a clear cool evening, was part of the Seventeenth Annual Roots of American Music Festival at New York's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The Canadian pipe band "Taxi Chain," Bruce Cockburn (with bass player Steve Lucas and drummer Ben Riley), and Arlo Guthrie (with son Abe and daughter Sarah Lee) each played an hour. Cockburn commented that at times it seems U.S. music draws the nutrients away from the roots of all other music, and then quipped that, being Canadian and therefore without history, he felt free to take elements from all world traditions.
